Here's an incredible rectangular belt buckle from renowned Navajo artisan Vernon A. Begaye. The plate is a tufa cast heavy gage sterling silver, mounted inside a stamped, sterling frame that gives it a sort of shadowbox look (silver within silver). A gorgeous oval turquoise cabochon is set in a pedestal, castellated bezel.
The buckle is 2 1/4" wide and 1 5/8" tall. With the stone, it is about 1/2" deep.
The buckle loop fits up to a 1 1/2" belt.
The turquoise stone is 3/8" by 9/16".

The artist's hallmark is "VAB" for Navajo artisan Vernon A. Begaye, who began crafting jewelry in the mid to late 1970s as he was entering his teenage years. He's known for his tufa cast designs as well as his mosaic inlay artistry (for which he's considered a master).
