Sterling Silver Tufa Cast Bolo Tie Turquoise Heavy Gage Navajo Vernon Begaye
Hurry up, only 1 item left in stock.
Here's an incredible trapezoidal bolo tie from renowned Navajo artisan Vernon A. Begaye. The plate is a tufa cast heavy gage sterling silver, mounted inside a stamped, sterling frame that gives it a sort of shadowbox look (silver within silver). A gorgeous oval turquoise cabochon is set in a pedestal, castellated bezel. It will be tough to see in the photos, but the turquoise has a polychrome look to it.
The bolo slide is 2 1/8" tall and has a width that tapers from 1 5/8" to 1". With the stone, it is about 1/2" deep.
The turquoise stone is 3/8" by 1/2".
The leathers are 5 mm thick, and are 38" long (including the tips). The silver tips are each 2 1/4" long.
It weighs 49 g.
The artist's hallmark is "VAB" for Navajo artisan Vernon A. Begaye, who began crafting jewelry in the mid to late 1970s as he was entering his teenage years. He's known for his tufa cast designs as well as his mosaic inlay artistry (for which he's considered a master).
