Vintage Zuni Sterling Multistone Inlay Bolo Tie Geometric Theme R&L Vacit
Vintage Zuni Sterling Multistone Inlay Bolo Tie Geometric Theme R&L Vacit
Here's a magnificent vintage bolo tie from artisan couple Ricky & Lucy Vacit (Zuni). On a sterling trapezoidal base, the artists created a geometric pattern using mosaic inlay techniques. Pale turquoise, coral, gold shell, onyx and other materials were used for the bolo design. A row of silver dots line the left and right sides of the bolo slide.
The bolo slide tapers slightly from 1 1/2" to 1 1/8" wide. It is 2" tall.
The leathers are 4 mm thick, and are 38" long including the silver tips. The tips are 2 1/8" long, each.
It weighs 42 g.
The artists' hallmark is "R&L Vacit Zuni NM", for celebrated artisan couple Ricky and Lucy Vacit (Zuni). Examples of their work are in a permanent collection with the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C. This piece was likely created in the early 1990s.
