VTG Heavy Gauge Silver Cuff Bracelet Pilot Mountain Turquoise Native American
This is a spectacular, eye-catching, one-of-a-kind bracelet with a phenomenal turquoise specimen from the Pilot Mountain Mine in western Nevada. Three heavy gauge silver rails provide the base for the central section of the bracelet. The turquoise stone is set in a hand-formed serrated bezel which was set on an oxidized (darkened) base. The four handmade applique leaves surrounding the stone create a shadowbox like effect. Silver dots complete the central section.
The former store owner indicated that this piece was crafted in the 1970's and noted the handmade leaves and other design elements. Hand written on the back are the words "1970's Pilot Mountain" indicating the origin of the turquoise stone.
It tested as silver; we could not determine if it was coin/ingot silver (900) or sterling silver.
The width of the bracelet tapers from 2" to 1/2" at either end.
The two crossbars are 1 3/4" long.
The turquoise stone is 1 3/8" by 1 7/8"
The inner circumference is 5 3/8" with an additional 1 1/2" wrist gap. It will fit up to a 6 7/8" wrist.
It weighs 83 g.
This bracelet was very likely created by a Navajo silversmith given its design and craftsmanship; however, this piece is not signed. Whomever the artist was, he or she had a fantastic eye for high quality turquoise.
Please measure your wrist twice and know your proper size BEFORE purchasing this bracelet. Because there is a stone set in this bracelet, opening it up by hand could crack the silver or loosen the stone. The same things can happen if you squeeze the bracelet too hard to make it smaller. If the bracelet needs a small adjustment to be more comfortable for you, please take it to your favorite professional jeweler. He or she is typically happy to assist.
This bracelet is new old stock, a piece coming from prior store inventory. Previously displayed but not sold (for some unknown reason - this guy is gorgeous!).
