VTG Harry Morgan Sterling Multi Stone Turquoise Cuff Bracelet Heavy Gauge Navajo
This is an incredible bracelet from renowned Navajo silversmith Harry Morgan (d. 2008). He was known for his traditional designs in his silver work, using heavy gauge silver, and using the highest quality stones. This bracelet reflects all of these characteristic of its creator.
The artist used heavy gauge silver and created the band with scalloped edges. He used two traditional punches to create the three repousse elements. Hand stamp work lines the outer edges of the bracelet. The stamp work opposite the repousse is intensely intricate. Finally, a dozen perfectly matched turquoise stones are set in serrated bezels in geometric arrangements across the cuff.
The width of the band tapers from 1" to 9/16".
The turquoise stone are variable in size, but in general are about 3/16" in diameter.
The inner circumference is 5 1/2" with an additional 1 1/2" wrist gap. It will fit up to a 7" wrist.
It weighs a notable 65 g.
The color and matrix of the turquoise remind us very much of turquoise coming from the Lone Mountain Mine in Nevada.
The artist's hallmark is "H. Morgan" indicating Harry Morgan, one of the most well known Navajo silversmiths of his generation. He was a fifth generation silversmith and loved to use the stamps that he inherited from his parents and other relatives. He made a lot of his own stamps as well.
Please measure your wrist twice and know your proper size BEFORE purchasing this bracelet. Because there are stones set in this bracelet, opening it up by hand could crack the silver or loosen a stone. The same things can happen if you squeeze the bracelet too hard to make it smaller. If the bracelet needs a small adjustment to be more comfortable for you, please take it to your favorite professional jeweler. He or she is typically happy to assist. Given the gauge of this piece, it would take considerable effort to change its size, and in so doing, the band would very likely crack if not handled by a professional.
This bracelet is new old stock, a piece coming from prior store inventory. Previously displayed but not sold.
