Vintage Zuni Cluster Squash Blossom Necklace 29" Silver Petit Point Turquoise
Vintage Zuni Cluster Squash Blossom Necklace 29" Silver Petit Point Turquoise
Here's an astoundingly beautiful squash blossom necklace that will cause you to smile every time you see it. A mix of petit point and snake eye turquoise cabochons are set in serrated bezels and placed on an oxidized (darkened) silver base. Each stone is framed with flat silver wire (arcs, teardrops, or circles), creating somewhat of a floral pattern. There are four petals on each blossom, with six blossoms per side. The blossoms are mounted on a double strand of handmade silver beads, narrowing to one strand of beads at either end. The beads are strung on foxtail wire. Silver dots are added as accents across the necklace.
Tested as silver.
From tip to tip, the necklace is 29" long. The naja adds a drop of 3", and it is 2 5/8" wide.
The "blossoms" are about 1 3/4" wide and 1 1/2" tall.
The beads are a uniform diameter of 1/4".
It weighs 220 g.
Given the design and construction of this necklace, it is very likely that a Zuni silversmith and lapidary crafted this sometime in the 1960s. However, this piece is not signed.
