Note that White Buffalo is often referred to as turquoise because its gemstone and matrix pattern very much resemble that of traditional turquoise. It is a lovely gemstone. However, White Buffalo is actually quartz/calcite with a black chert matrix which is not, chemically speaking, turquoise. Turquoise is a copper-based gemstone. The White Buffalo gemstone originates from the Tonopah, Nevada area, but it has no copper content.
